DCM Shriram Commissions 100 TPD Aluminium Chloride and 133 TPD Calcium Chloride Plants at Bharuch, Gujarat
DCM Shriram has commissioned a new 100 tonnes-per-day (TPD) aluminium chloride plant at its Bharuch facility in Gujarat, along with a 133 TPD calcium chloride plant. The facilities are part of the company's downstream chemicals expansion at its existing chlor-alkali site.
The company's board had approved capital expenditure of ₹310 crore for the aluminium chloride and granulated calcium chloride facilities. The projects moved from pre-commissioning trials in Q1 FY27 to commercial operations as of September 30, 2026
The plants convert captive chlorine into anhydrous aluminium chloride and calcium chloride. The aluminium chloride plant strengthens the company's presence in the domestic aluminium chloride market. The calcium chloride facility marks its entry into the calcium chloride business.
The new units absorb chlorine from the company's chlor-alkali operations at Bharuch. This raises captive chlorine utilisation and widens the company's range of value-added chemical products.
The commissioning adds to the company's chemical capacity at Bharuch, which already includes a 35,000 TPA epichlorohydrin plant. Equipment suppliers and engineering firms serving chlor-alkali and chlorine-derivative projects in Gujarat may find follow-on opportunities as the company develops this site.
