Reliance Industries Plans ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment in Compressed Biogas (CBG) Projects in Andhra Pradesh
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore to set up compressed biogas (CBG) projects in Andhra Pradesh. RIL Executive Director Anant Ambani announced this at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub and Indian School of Agriculture at Madanapalle on 2 October 2026.
Ambani said the CBG projects will create over 3 lakh jobs and bring ₹60,000 crore in revenue to the state over the next few decades. The source does not give the number of plants, their capacities, locations, feedstock arrangements, land requirements or a project timeline. It also does not name any contractors or technology providers.
The announcement follows the launch of GOBARdhan, a central sector scheme to boost the CBG sector. The Union Cabinet approved it last month with an outlay of ₹23,731 crore. It provides a 10-year framework from 2026-27 to 2035-36. It aims to raise domestic CBG production nearly 10-fold to around 5 million standard cubic metres per day.
Ambani said the Andhra Pradesh government has approved 388 mega projects since June 2024, with investment commitments above ₹14 lakh crore. He said about a third of these are headed to Rayalaseema.
