Railway Board Sanctions ₹1,936.46 Crore 3rd and 4th Lines on 77-Km Arakkonam-Renigunta Section of Mumbai-Chennai Railway Corridor
The Railway Board has sanctioned the 3rd and 4th lines of the Arakkonam-Renigunta railway expansion project. The project covers about 77 km and is estimated to cost ₹1,936.46 crore.
The project adds two more lines to the Arakkonam-Renigunta section, which is part of the Mumbai-Chennai high-density network. It includes 12 major bridges and 221 minor bridges. Of the sanctioned cost, about ₹1,504.42 crore is earmarked for civil works and ₹225.58 crore for electrical and traction-related works.
The project is scheduled for completion within three years.
It is one of five multitracking projects with a combined estimated cost of ₹10,021 crore. Together they cover about 540 km across 17 districts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
