Ohmium, a US-based green hydrogen focused organisation that develops Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers has launched a new gigafactory in Doddaballapura, near Bengaluru.
It has a production space of 14,000 square meters and will be shipping 2 GW of fully assembled and tested electrolyser systems. This is Ohmium’s second manufacturing facility in India, and brings key manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, testing, warehouse and shipping facilities under one roof.
In April 2024, Ohmium collaborated with Tata Projects to work on green hydrogen projects in India. Ohmium will supply PEM electrolysers, while Tata Projects will oversee the engineering, design, integration, and optimisation phases of the EPC process.
In 2023, Ohmium international had announced that its India-based subsidiary was selected as the PEM electrolyser partner of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited.
The agreement is valid for a period of two years till May 2025. Ohmium’s patented electrolysers are expected to be deployed in up to 400 MW of projects across a diverse range of industrial and commercial applications, including ammonia, transportation, and power, among others.
Ohmium’s technology is expected to help NTPC deploy 5 GW of renewable energy for green hydrogen and green ammonia production.
