Maharashtra Launches 'Invest Maharashtra' Investment Authority with MoUs Worth ₹8.5 Lakh Crore Across Data Centres, Semiconductors and Digital Infrastructure

The Maharashtra government has launched 'Invest Maharashtra', a global apex investment authority for the state. The launch was accompanied by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signings worth ₹8.5 lakh crore. About 66 companies have signed MoUs to invest in the state. The major investments are in data centres, ITES and semiconductors.

 

The largest single commitment is an estimated ₹1 lakh crore from Akshat Greentech in Navi Mumbai and Pune. Sterlite Group will invest in digital infrastructure and semiconductors at Shahpur and Khalapur. Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd has planned a metal and mining project in Chandrapur.

 

Pi-Semicon will set up a semiconductor facility in Nashik. Astracity will develop a data centre project in Ratnagiri. The source gives no individual investment figures, capacities or timelines for the Sterlite, Shyam Metalics, Pi-Semicon or Astracity projects.

 

An MoU has also been signed for a 5,700-acre Knowledge City in the proposed Mumbai 3.0 region, covering Navi Mumbai and Raigad. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has separately unveiled its Existing Land Use plan for Mumbai 3 and 4, spread over an anticipated 2,100 sq km.
