Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves ₹1,757 Crore Bhopal-Vidisha Four-Lane Road Project
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved the ₹1,757.55 crore Bhopal-Vidisha four-lane project, which will widen the 44.83-km Bhopal-Vidisha road from two lanes to four lanes, including paved shoulders along the upgraded corridor. The project is intended to improve connectivity between Bhopal, Vidisha and nearby cities.
The Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation will execute the project under the Hybrid Annuity Model. The corporation will bear 40% of the construction cost, including GST, through the State Highway Fund, while the remaining 60% will be funded from the state budget through half-yearly annuities paid over 15 years. The project has a proposed completion timeline of five years.
Alongside this approval, the Cabinet also cleared user-fee collection on the 51.963-km Bhopal Bypass, effective from July 19, 2026, to December 31, 2031.
The Bhopal-Vidisha four-lane project is expected to strengthen road connectivity across the proposed Bhopal metropolitan region, improving movement between Bhopal and Vidisha and supporting connectivity with other nearby cities along the route. The state will fund the project through a combination of construction funding and long-term annuity payments.
