HCC Bags ₹524 Crore NHPC Contract for Civil and Hydro-Mechanical Works at Salal Power Station, J&K
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured an estimated ₹524.17 crore contract from NHPC for the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir. The contract covers civil and hydro-mechanical works, along with associated ancillary and enabling works, and will be executed by HCC over a period of 27 months.
The scope of work involves the under sluices of the concrete dam at the Salal Power Station, supporting the dam's functional and operational requirements. The project relates to the 690 MW Salal Hydroelectric Project, which NHPC commissioned in 1987. The contract also covers associated works required for the execution of rehabilitation activities at the station.
The contract is expected to support rehabilitation works at one of NHPC's hydroelectric assets, with HCC stating that the work is expected to improve the station's operational efficiency and sediment management.
HCC has previously executed hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir, with its regional portfolio including the Uri-II, Kishanganga, Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak projects.
