Log9 Materials plans to improve its lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility

Manufacturing  -  Dec 12,2023  -

Log9 Materials is planning to enhance the capacity of its existing lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility this year from 50 MWh to one GWh.

Apart from this, the company is also working on expanding its battery pack manufacturing capacity to two GWh in the next 15 to 18 months.

The company aims to increase its lithium-ion cell production, optimise costs and improve technology to make batteries more suitable for the Indian conditions.

Besides, Log9 seeks to expand its portfolio in commercial mobility use cases such as two, three and four-wheelers and industrial equipment, including forklifts and tow trucks. Additionally, it aims to foray into other commercial user segments such as large trucks and buses.

Log9 Materials, which raised USD 40 million in January this year in a series-B funding round, has been expanding its manufacturing capacities with the growing demand for EVs, particularly from the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment.

It has expanded its battery pack manufacturing capacity from 40 MWh in 2021 to 250 MWh to date.

Initially, Log9 started with battery offerings for three-wheelers in 2021 and later expanded to the two and four-wheeler segments. The company continues to be working in the commercial utility space for two-wheelers for food delivery and e-commerce delivery. In four-wheelers, it is entering into cargo vehicles.
