Larsen & Toubro Signs ₹18,600 Crore MOU With Tamil Nadu Government for Data Centre, Electronics Manufacturing, and Kattupalli Shipyard Expansion

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for three projects worth a total of ₹18,600 crore, aimed at expanding digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and shipbuilding in the state.

The largest project is a ₹15,000 crore data centre expansion in Kanchipuram district to support AI and cloud infrastructure, expected to generate about 500 jobs. A second project involves a ₹2,500 crore electronics and electronic systems manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, with an estimated 2,000 jobs.

The third project is a ₹1,100 crore expansion of L&T’s Kattupalli shipyard near Chennai, projected to create around 5,700 jobs and strengthen India’s shipbuilding capacity.

Collectively, the three projects are expected to generate over 8,200 jobs and reinforce Tamil Nadu’s position as a major hub for technology infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and maritime industry development.
