KEI Industries Plans ₹600-700 Crore Annual Capex for Sanand and Salarpur Cable Plant Expansions
KEI Industries Ltd has outlined capital expenditure of ₹600 crore to ₹700 crore per year over the next three to four years, according to the company's senior management on an investor call discussing Q1FY27 performance. During the quarter (April–June 2026), the company incurred capex of ₹191 crore, of which around ₹180 crore went toward its upcoming greenfield plant at Sanand, Gujarat.
Of the ₹700 crore capex planned for FY27, around ₹300 crore is earmarked for the Sanand plant, while ₹300-350 crore will go toward the newly announced cable plant at Salarpur in Khairtal-Tijara district, Rajasthan. KEI's board approved capex of ₹700 crore for the Salarpur greenfield plant on August 3, 2026. The facility, to be financed through internal accruals, is expected to become operational in phases by September 2028, with a planned capacity of 50,000 km per year of cables and 40,000 tonnes per year of galvanized iron (GI) wire for backward integration. Balance capex on Salarpur will be incurred in FY28, alongside additional capex for a new plant location under consideration in Vadodara or an adjacent site in Gujarat.
The first phase of the Sanand plant is complete and currently producing low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) power cables. Production of electron-beam (e-beam) cables for solar power applications is expected to begin in Q2FY27, with extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable production targeted by March 2027, marking full commissioning of the facility. Total investment in the Sanand plant is expected to reach around ₹2,000 crore, of which ₹1,722 crore had been spent as of June 30, 2026.
