ISKRAemeco, a prominent global leader in smart metering solutions, is all set to establish a new manufacturing facility for smart metering hardware in New Town, Kolkata, with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the production capabilities of smart meters, a key component for modernizing the country’s power sector.

The state-of-the-art facility will focus on the production of advanced metering equipment used in electricity distribution systems, including smart meters and related technologies. These meters will enable accurate, real-time monitoring of electricity consumption, supporting the government's push for energy efficiency and transparency in billing processes.

The plant, located in the New Town area of Kolkata, is expected to contribute to the local economy by generating hundreds of new jobs, both directly and indirectly. The facility will also play a vital role in addressing the growing demand for smart grid infrastructure in India as the country moves toward more digitalized and automated utility systems.

In addition to supporting India’s power sector modernization, ISKRAemeco’s facility will focus on producing smart metering solutions that adhere to global standards, ensuring that the products can also cater to international markets. The company’s decision to set up the plant in New Town is a strategic move aimed at tapping into the growing opportunities in the energy management and automation sectors.
