India's First Telecom Manufacturing Zone to Come Up in Gwalior with ₹493 Crore Central Support
The Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh have signed an MoU to establish India's first integrated Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. Spread across 170.5 acres, the plug-and-play zone will support telecom manufacturing from design to export, producing 5G, 6G, optical fibre, semiconductors, networking equipment and other electronics.
The project will be developed through an SPV, with the Madhya Pradesh government (51%) and the Department of Telecommunications (49%), while MPIDC will serve as the master developer. The Centre will provide ₹493 crore for infrastructure, testing labs, technology centres and investment promotion.
The state has announced incentives including ₹1/sq m annual lease, 100% stamp duty reimbursement, ₹1 land premium, ₹2/unit power subsidy for five years, and up to ₹200 crore capital subsidy.
The project is expected to attract around ₹3,500 crore in investment and create over 14,000 jobs, with companies such as HFCL, VVDN Technologies, Dixon Technologies, Lava Mobile, and Optimus Electronics expressing interest.
