HPCL Partners with Engineers India to commercialize indigenous hydrogen PSA technology

Infrastructure  -  Nov 11,2024  -

HP Green R&D Centre (HPGRDC), the research arm of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), has entered into a partnership with Engineers India Ltd. (EIL) to commercialize its Hydrogen Pressure Swing Adsorption (HP-PSA) technology, which was developed in-house.

As part of the agreement, HPCL will act as the ‘Technology Licensor,’ while EIL will be the exclusive ‘Technology & Engineering Partner’ responsible for the engineering, marketing, and commercialization of the HP-PSA technology across India.

HPCL highlighted that the HP-PSA technology has already proven its effectiveness, with a successful deployment at the Visakh Refinery, where a 6-bed H2 PSA unit has been operating commercially for over nine years.

This innovative technology establishes HPCL as India’s first, and the world’s third, licensor of Hydrogen PSA technology, according to the company.

Vipul Kumar Maheshwari, Executive Director of R&D at HPCL, emphasized that this collaboration would greatly contribute to India’s technological self-reliance, furthering HPCL’s commitment to innovation and continuous advancement
