Haldiram's Proposes ₹1,000 Crore Snacks Manufacturing Plant in Odisha, First Phase Approved
Haldiram Snacks (Haldiram's) has proposed to invest ₹1,000 crore in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Odisha, focused on savoury snacks and baked products. The project will be developed in three phases, and the Odisha government's State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) has already approved the first phase, involving an investment of ₹500 crore.
The exact location of the plant is yet to be finalised, though it is expected to come up in the Khordha-Cuttack region. Once fully developed, the facility is expected to become one of eastern India's largest manufacturing units for snacks and baked products.
The Haldiram's proposal was among 14 investment proposals cleared by the SLSWCA, together totalling around ₹2,780 crore and spread across the textile, agro, food processing, chemicals, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and steel manufacturing sectors. The approved projects are to come up across districts including Angul, Bolangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sundergarh, with combined employment potential of over 14,000 jobs.
The proposed plant adds to a growing food processing cluster in Odisha that already includes ITC, Nestlé, Parle, Britannia, Indo Nissin, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance, Tata Consumer Products and Varun Beverages. Haldiram's, founded in Bikaner in 1937, currently operates manufacturing units in Nagpur, Noida, Rudrapur, Delhi-NCR and Hooghly, and the Odisha facility would extend its manufacturing footprint into eastern India.
