Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Approves ₹55 Crore HCL Synthesis Unit at Dahej
Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has received board approval for a new Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) synthesis unit at its Dahej facility in Gujarat, at an estimated project cost of ₹55 crore. The in-principle approval was granted following a board meeting held on July 23, 2026, alongside the company's Q1 FY27 financial results.
The new unit is intended to optimise chlorine utilisation across GACL's manufacturing operations and support a planned phosphoric acid plant at the same site. The company had earlier approved a related 90-120 MTPD HCL synthesis unit at Dahej in May 2025, at an estimated investment of ₹35 crore, aimed at meeting captive consumption needs by using an additional 80-100 tonnes of chlorine per day.
GACL operates manufacturing complexes at Vadodara and Dahej, with a product portfolio spanning more than 36 chemicals, including caustic soda, chlorine, hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The company has been pursuing a series of capacity expansion and vertical integration projects at its Dahej site as part of its long-term "Vision 2047" strategic roadmap.
The HCL unit approval comes as GACL reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue in Q1 FY27, with the company noting continued investment in capacity expansion projects to support its integrated chemicals manufacturing base at Dahej.
