Genrobotics Opens Defence and Space Robotics Production Facility in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
Genrobotics has opened a new production facility at KINFRA, Menamkulam, near Thumba in Thiruvananthapuram, marking an expansion of its manufacturing and research capabilities into defence production, aerospace and space technology. The facility will focus on the development and production of robotics technologies for defence and space applications.
The Menamkulam unit is designed as an R&D-led production facility, building on the company's earlier standing in sanitation and medical robotics. Genrobotics has also strengthened its aerospace capabilities in recent months by bringing on senior talent from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The facility was inaugurated by APM Mohammed Hanish, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Government of Kerala, along with Balagopal Chandrashekar, Chairman of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), and Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director of the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA).
The new unit forms part of a larger expansion of Genrobotics' manufacturing infrastructure in Kerala. The company's under-construction facility at Palakkad, which will be its largest, is nearing completion and will focus on sanitation and medical technologies. A separate headquarters-cum-R&D facility is also being developed at Chanthavila in Thiruvananthapuram. Together, the three facilities are expected to add around 1 lakh sq. ft. of infrastructure to the company's Kerala operations.
