Luxembourg-based Innovation Platform Capital (IPC) plans to invest ₹83,480 crore (approximately $8.76 billion) in Karnataka in three phases, with a focus on digital infrastructure, renewable energy and green hydrogen. According to Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil, IPC has submitted proposals for the Bengaluru-Tumakuru Integrated Green Hydrogen project and a separate hyperscale data centre development.

The hyperscale data centre project will have a capacity of 2,500 MW of IT load, while the integrated green hydrogen project will have a capacity of 1,000 MW.

The first phase alone is set to involve an investment of ₹17,114 crore. This stage includes two 200 MW data centres, along with a 500 MW green hydrogen plant and energy complex.

For the initial phase, IPC is seeking 1,000 acres of land, split roughly equally between the data centre and green hydrogen components at about 400 acres each. A further 200 acres has been earmarked for safety measures and environmental safeguards, according to Patil.

The projects are estimated to require about 13 million litres of water per day, with 85 per cent expected to come from treated sources.
