DEE Development Engineers to Set Up Nuclear Piping JV with ₹100 Crore-Plus Investment, Formal Announcement by Year End
DEE Development Engineers plans to enter India's nuclear power segment through a joint venture with a global partner for piping fabrication solutions, the company's Chairman and Managing Director K L Bansal said. The BSE-listed engineering firm expects the JV to be finalised by the end of the year.
The proposed facility would require an initial capital expenditure of over ₹100 crore and is intended to meet India's full domestic requirement for high-strength specialised pipes used in mega power projects, according to Bansal. The project is positioned to support the Indian government's target of setting up 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047.
Bansal said the venture would help reduce India's current complete dependence on imports for nuclear piping fabrication, a component considered critical to nuclear power plant construction and maintenance.
The nuclear piping plan follows the company's recent expansion into the data centre segment, where it secured its first order for core piping from a private entity, part of a broader diversification strategy for DEE Development Engineers, which currently supplies specialised process piping to the oil and gas, power, and chemicals sectors.
