Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, Proposed for ₹10,700 Crore Expansion with New Terminal 3
Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow has proposed an expansion plan worth an estimated ₹10,700 crore, aimed at raising annual passenger handling capacity to approximately 38 million. The centrepiece of the plan is a new integrated Terminal 3 (T3), to be built in phases.
Phase I of the terminal is planned across an anticipated 1.15 lakh square metres, with Phase II adding a further 33,529.88 square metres. The terminal project alone is estimated at ₹2,394 crore, of which ₹1,786 crore is earmarked for the new integrated terminal building.
Beyond the terminal, the broader masterplan includes a runway extension to enable wide-body aircraft operations, a cargo and logistics hub, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, and a proposed fourth terminal. The plan also covers new aircraft stands for passenger, cargo, and general aviation operations.
The expansion is intended to position Lucknow as a long-haul aviation and logistics hub, with the automated cargo and logistics component aimed at supporting international trade through the city.
