CenturyPly Inaugurates ₹215 Crore Greenfield Plywood Manufacturing Plant in Hoshiarpur, Punjab
Century Plyboards (India) Ltd (CenturyPly) has inaugurated a new greenfield plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The plant is being developed with a planned investment of about ₹215 crore across two phases. Phase one accounts for ₹180 crore, and the balance will be spent in phase two.
The facility is spread over 27 acres. It will start operations with an annual capacity of 60,000 CBM. The second phase is planned to raise capacity to 1,00,000 CBM within the next six months. At full capacity, the plant is expected to contribute annual revenues of about ₹600 crore.
The Hoshiarpur unit is CenturyPly’s seventh plywood plant in India. The company’s existing plants are located in West Bengal, Guwahati, Chennai, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The new facility is meant to serve Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The company said its existing plywood plants are running at high capacity utilisation.
The plant uses automated systems across production stages. It includes centralised dust collection, wastewater treatment facilities and provisions for rooftop solar power generation. Process-generated wood waste will be used as fuel. The facility has been designed to allow further expansion in its second phase.
The project is expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. The company chose Hoshiarpur for its proximity to an established timber and plywood ecosystem, skilled manpower and road connectivity to major consumption centres.
