Bondada Engineering Receives GIPCL Letter of Intent for 20 MW/120 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Storage System at Vadodara, Gujarat
Bondada Engineering Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) to develop a 20 MW/120 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System (VRFB BESS). The system will be set up at GIPCL’s 165 MW natural gas power plant complex in Vadodara, Gujarat. The package includes a 10-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract.
The scope covers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the 120 MWh storage system, followed by the 10-year O&M period. Completion is scheduled within 18 months of the Notice of Award. Bondada Engineering says this is India’s largest grid-scale vanadium redox flow battery installation.
The project follows Bondada’s work on a 100 MWh vanadium redox flow battery system for NTPC Renewable Energy at Khavda, Gujarat. Flow battery systems are suited to long-duration storage and can support grid stability and the management of renewable power variability.
