JSW Utkal Steel Awards SMS Group Contract for Sinter Plant at Upcoming 13.2 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant in Odisha
JSW Utkal Steel Limited has awarded SMS group a contract to supply a sinter plant for its upcoming integrated steelworks in Odisha. The sinter plant is part of a greenfield 13.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant. It will be the third sinter plant of this scale within the JSW Group.
SMS group will handle the design, engineering and equipment supply, including electrical systems and Level 1 and Level 2 automation. The plant will be a traveling-grate sinter plant based on SMS Agglomeration technology.
It will use Emission- and Energy-Optimized Sintering (EOS) technology, which recovers and reuses waste heat to improve energy efficiency and lower emissions and operating costs. The plant will also use SMS group’s Optimus Sinter digital solution. This helps optimise fuel consumption, stabilise production and provide real-time process information, without additional hardware investment.
SMS group has previously supplied multiple sinter plants now operating within the JSW Group. The two companies have also worked together on blast furnace orders, a coke plant package and hot strip mill projects.
