Bihar Signs MoUs Worth ₹51,600 Crore with 10 Industrial Groups, Eyes Steel Hub Status
The Bihar government signed Memorandums of Understanding worth around ₹51,600 crore with several leading industrial groups from across the country, in a major push to accelerate industrial development in the state. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, with the state government asserting that the proposed investments will spur large-scale industrialisation and generate substantial employment opportunities.
The 10 firms signing MoUs include Global Renewable Advanced Clean Energy (GRACE) for nuclear energy, along with steel and metals players Shri Langta Baba Metals and Power, Ankur Steel, Nakshit Iron and Steel, Shyam Steel Manufacturing, and Shakambhari Ispat and Power. Anubhav Apparels Pvt Ltd committed ₹50 crore toward the textile sector as part of the package.
Chief Minister Choudhary said Bihar aims to emerge as a major steel manufacturing hub and that the state government will actively promote investments in the steel and metal industries, while placing equal emphasis on expanding sectors such as textiles, nuclear energy, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. He noted that the textile sector is labour-intensive and has the potential to generate large-scale employment, while investments in clean and nuclear energy would help meet the state's future energy requirements.
The signing event was attended by senior government officials including Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit. The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for Bihar Business Connect-2026, describing it as a key platform to connect domestic and international investors with the state's emerging industrial opportunities, under the slogan "Build and Believe in Bihar.
