Avaada Group has teamed up with Swiss firm Casale to develop a 1,500 tonne per day (TPD) green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha.
The facility will be powered entirely by renewable energy, using Casale’s cutting-edge ammonia production technology to ensure a carbon-free process.
Casale will provide the green ammonia process licence, basic engineering package, proprietary equipment, and detailed engineering review. With this collaboration, Casale's licensed green ammonia capacity in India reaches 5,700 TPD.
This announcement follows Avaada’s recent MoU with the Odisha government, involving a commitment of Rs 20,700 crore to developing 1,500 MW of floating solar projects, two 1,000 MW pumped hydro storage plants, and green energy equipment manufacturing units.
Avaada aims to achieve 11 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2026. In 2023, the company secured USD one billion from Brookfield’s Energy Transition Fund and $300 million from Thailand’s PTT Group subsidiary GPSC.
