Andhra Pradesh Launches ₹3,892 Crore Infrastructure Works in Visakhapatnam via GVMC and VMRDA
Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has directed officials to complete ongoing infrastructure works in Visakhapatnam within the stipulated timeframe, preferably within 18 months. Sixteen infrastructure projects worth ₹3,892 crore have been launched in the city.
Of the total value, ₹3,531.47 crore is being executed through the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), while ₹369.49 crore is being taken up through the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).
These works form part of a larger package under which Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹11,360 crore across 123 municipalities in 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh, executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) for the first time in the state. Of this statewide total, works worth ₹7,469 crore were launched across the state generally and ₹3,890 crore specifically within Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation limits — closely matching the Visakhapatnam-specific figure cited by Minister Narayana.
Under the statewide package, roads are being built at a cost of ₹4,656 crore, along with central medians (₹88 crore), street lighting (₹247 crore) and parks (₹509 crore).
