Amara Raja Advances ₹280 Crore BESS Facility and ₹9,500 Crore Giga Corridor Expansion in Telangana
Amara Raja Energy & Mobility, through its subsidiary Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies, is expanding its new-energy manufacturing capacity in Telangana. The company is setting up a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility with a capital expenditure of approximately ₹280 crore, with start of production targeted for Q4 FY2027.
This facility adds to Amara Raja's existing battery-pack manufacturing operations in Telangana. Phase 1 of its battery-pack facility has an installed capacity of 1.5 GWh, and commercial supply of battery packs for two- and three-wheeler electric vehicles is already underway from this line.
The BESS and battery-pack facilities form part of Amara Raja's wider Giga Corridor project in Telangana, for which the company has committed an investment of ₹9,500 crore over 10 years. The Giga Corridor is intended to house manufacturing and research infrastructure supporting the company's new-energy business, covering both battery packs for electric mobility and stationary energy storage systems.
The expansion adds engineering and manufacturing capacity for electric mobility and grid-scale energy storage, alongside Amara Raja's established automotive and industrial battery operations.
