Aditya Birla Group Proposes Additional ₹12,000 Crore to Expand Kansariguda Alumina Refinery in Odisha to 3 MTPA
The Aditya Birla Group has proposed an additional ₹12,000 crore investment to expand Hindalco’s greenfield alumina refinery at Kansariguda, Rayagada, Odisha.
The project, originally planned as a 1 MTPA refinery with ₹8,000 crore investment, will be expanded to 3 MTPA, taking the total project cost to ₹20,000 crore.
The expansion will strengthen Hindalco’s aluminium supply chain and support demand from infrastructure, renewable energy, EVs, and manufacturing sectors. Hindalco already has ₹40,000+ crore investments in Odisha.
The group also plans ₹38,000 crore additional investment in the state, including expansion of Aditya Aluminium at Sambalpur and other aluminium and downstream manufacturing projects.
