ACME Solar Expands Contracted Battery Energy Storage Capacity to 3.62 GWh in Rajasthan
ACME Solar Holdings, through its subsidiary ACME Renewtech Fifth Pvt Ltd, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for a 300 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project, at a tariff of ₹3.25 per kWh.
Following the agreement, ACME Solar's PPA-backed portfolio has increased to 6,870 MW out of a total contracted renewable energy portfolio of 8,070 MW, spanning solar, wind, hybrid, firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), and battery storage projects. Of the total portfolio, 2,990 MW is operational and 5,080 MW is under construction, including 3,880 MW backed by signed PPAs.
As part of this expanding portfolio, ACME Solar is developing approximately 3.62 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity, largely concentrated in Rajasthan. The company has been commissioning BESS capacity in phases through its subsidiaries, including recent additions at sites in Jaisalmer district, taking cumulative commissioned storage capacity across its Rajasthan subsidiaries past 2 GWh, with a target of operationalising 10 GWh of BESS by 2027.
Under the new PPA, ACME Solar is required to maintain a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 30 per cent. The company's growth pipeline also includes a proposed 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Rajasthan and green hydrogen and green ammonia projects under development.
