Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves Four Expressway Projects Worth Over ₹47,600 Crore
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved four expressway projects to strengthen the state's expressway network, with a combined estimated cost of more than ₹47,600 crore.
The Cabinet cleared the revised and final Request for Proposal (RFP) for two link expressway projects connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal and Ganga expressways, together estimated to cost over ₹12,264 crore. The 50.98-km greenfield link expressway connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway will be developed as a six-lane access-controlled corridor, expandable to eight lanes, under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
The Cabinet also approved the alignment of the six-lane Vindhya Expressway, expandable to eight lanes, estimated to cost around ₹26,315 crore. This corridor is intended to improve connectivity to Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts. Additionally, the Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link, estimated at around ₹9,039 crore, will connect Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Chandauli, further strengthening road connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The state government said the tendering process for selecting developers will begin shortly, with selected agencies required to complete construction within about 36 months and undertake road maintenance for five years thereafter. The projects are intended to integrate the Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal and Ganga expressways into a seamless network, reducing travel time and fuel consumption while boosting regional economic activity.
