A new Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility (CBWTF) with a capacity of 1150 TPA is proposed at Udarbandh, Cachar district, Assam, to collect, treat and dispose bio-medical waste from healthcare establishments within a roughly 75 km radius. The project has received Standard ToR from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and is currently at the pre-construction, environmental appraisal stage. Land for the facility (0.535 Ha, non-forest) has already been acquired through an executed land agreement.
