A new coal-to-chemical plant is being planned in Odisha to convert high-ash coal into ammonium nitrate, with a production capacity of 600,000 metric tons per annum. The project, estimated to cost Rs.117,820.5 million, will be jointly developed by Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited and the Odisha Industries Department. As of July 2025, planning activities are underway.
