Zelio E-Mobility Opens Coimbatore EV Plant, Lifts Annual Production Capacity to 2.4 Lakh Units

Zelio E-Mobility Limited has commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as part of its expansion strategy across South India. The 39,000 sq. ft. facility is located at Trichy Road, Nagiyyaan Thottam, Lakshmi Nagar, Kannampalayam, and will support electric scooter assembly, storage, logistics and allied operations.

The Coimbatore plant has an installed annual production capacity of 60,000 electric two-wheelers, taking Zelio's aggregate installed manufacturing capacity from 1.8 lakh units to 2.4 lakh units per year, a 33% expansion. The facility has been established with a capital investment of up to ₹1 crore, funded through internal accruals.

In its initial phase, the plant is expected to manufacture and assemble approximately 24,000–30,000 electric two-wheelers annually, with the incremental capacity expected to be commissioned in Q2 FY27. The facility currently employs 30 direct workers, with over 100 additional personnel expected to be added over the coming months.

The Coimbatore unit will primarily serve southern markets including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Maharashtra, joining Zelio's existing manufacturing network at Ladwa and Patan in Haryana and Cuttack in Odisha. The company reported revenue of ₹313.68 crore in FY2025-26, up 81.8% year-on-year.
