Work on Chennai Peripheral Ring Road to be completed by year-end

Infrastructure  -  Jan 30,2025  -

The Chennai Peripheral Ring Road, spanning 133 km from Ennore Port to Poonjeri near Mamallapuram, is on track for completion by the end of 2025.

Progress on the 30.8-km stretch from Tiruvallur Bypass to Sriperumbudur is notable, with contractor L&T having completed 79 percent of its portion, while SPK has finished 50 percent. Section 4  stretching from Sriperumbudur to Singaperumalkoil has been completed, and work continues on Section 5 extending from Singaperumalkoil to Mamallapuram, with land acquisition nearing completion.

Section 1 covering Ennore Port to Thatchur is expected to take more time due to challenges like power transmission lines and tanks. Once finished, the ring road will be the city's first access-controlled road, linking key national highways and the East Coast Road.
