West Bengal's Law Minister, Moloy Ghatak, has announced that the state government will construct a flyover on the G T Road in Asansol to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, a new medical college is set to be established at the district headquarters.
While inaugurating a Kali Puja organized by Vidrohi Sangha in Asansol, Ghatak shared that there are two significant developments for the residents of Asansol this festive season. The long-awaited flyover on G T Road is finally becoming a reality, a project that has been requested by local citizens and various business chambers. Preliminary work, including the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and land assessments, is already underway.
The new flyover aims to reduce congestion in the Old Bazar area, which has been a persistent issue. Notably, a joint project by the railways and SAIL has successfully built a flyover in Kumarpur, improving traffic flow in the western part of the town.
Former Union Minister of State and current Asansol MP, Babul Supriyo, played a crucial role in securing approval for this project from the steel and railway ministries.
