Vardhman Special Steels Limited (VSSL) has laid the foundation stone for an advanced forging facility at Mangarh, Kohara, in Ludhiana, Punjab, in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The ₹1,116 crore project marks VSSL's forward integration into high-value precision-forged automotive components.

The facility has been developed in partnership with Aichi Steel Corporation and will manufacture Ring Gears and other forged components for original equipment manufacturers in India and export markets including Europe, ASEAN, Africa and Mexico.

The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will include one forging line and a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) line, with commissioning targeted by March 2028. A second forging line will be added in a subsequent phase based on customer demand and business growth.

The investment adds to a wave of capacity expansion announcements across India's steel and automotive component sector, positioning VSSL to serve growing domestic and export demand for precision-forged components used in automotive drivetrain applications.
