Sonar Bangla, West Bengal-based UltraTech Cement Limited has announced the commissioning of 1.3 mtpa of brownfield cement capacity, bringing the Unit's capacity to 3.3 mtpa.

This marks the end of the company's initial phase of expansion in the Eastern area. Over the past two years, the company has installed cement production capacity in the area of 10.3 mtpa to meet the region's rapidly expanding cement demand. Additionally, it will make it easier to shorten lead times and boost the company's blended cement ratio, both of which are in line with its stated goal of lowering carbon emissions from operations.

The Company's total capacity to produce grey cement in India is currently 131.25 mtpa.
