Toyo Engineering India Bags FEED Contract for M11 Industries' Sustainable Aviation Fuel Project in Mangalore
Toyo Engineering India Private Limited has been awarded the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for M11 Industries' upcoming Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility in Mangalore, Karnataka. The commercial-scale plant will use the hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) pathway to produce bio-jet fuel from renewable feedstocks.
Under the agreement, the facility will deploy Danish climate technology company Topsoe's proprietary HydroFlex licensed process technology to hydrotreat domestic renewable feedstocks, including used cooking oil and animal fats, into drop-in, low-carbon aviation turbine fuel compatible with existing commercial aircraft engines and distribution infrastructure.
Securing the FEED contract formally advances the project into detailed engineering, layout optimisation and procurement preparation, positioning the Mangalore facility as one of India's early greenfield SAF refineries. As part of the scope, Toyo Engineering India will handle the main plant design, plan water and power connections, and integrate systems to prepare the project for final construction.
The FEED phase will define engineering design parameters, technical specifications, process configuration and the project's implementation roadmap, playing a critical role in advancing the facility toward detailed engineering, procurement and construction. The project reflects growing momentum in India's clean aviation fuel sector, as the country works to expand domestic SAF production capacity to support the aviation industry's transition toward lower-carbon fuel alternatives. Toyo Engineering India said the contract further strengthens its position in the country's emerging clean energy and decarbonisation project pipeline.
