Think Gas Completes 500 km Pipeline Network in Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu Districts; Plans Expansion to 550 km and 70 CNG Stations
Think Gas, a city gas distribution company, has announced the completion of over 500 km of steel and medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) pipeline network across its Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu Geographical Areas in Tamil Nadu. The company has been operating in these districts since 2021 and has progressively built out its natural gas infrastructure to serve domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers.
The company currently serves 10,125 domestic piped natural gas (PNG) households and operates 52 CNG stations across the two districts. Expansion targets include growing the pipeline network to 550 km by the end of 2026, scaling domestic PNG connections to 20,000 households, and adding 18 new CNG stations to take the total to 70. The expanded CNG network is expected to support over 30,000 vehicles.
PNG services are currently available across Sriperumbudur, Vallam, Kelambakkam, Padur, Navalur, Thalambur, Thaiyur, Egattur, and Thiruporur, with network expansion underway in Tambaram, Mudichur, Sholinganallur, and Molachur. Think Gas has also implemented the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board's LPG-Free Zone initiative across notified areas in the two districts, declaring zones LPG-free once PNG network coverage is confirmed as available.
Investment size for the ongoing and planned infrastructure expansion has not been disclosed.
