Thermax secures Rs 500-crore order to establish 5 bio-CNG plants across India

Infrastructure  -  Dec 18,2023  -

Energy and environment solutions provider Thermax has secured an over Rs 500-crore order from a top energy conglomerate to establish five bio-CNG plants across India.

The company said that these plants will be set up in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and will have a capacity to produce 110 tonnes per day (TPD) of bio-CNG.

The plants will use local feedstock exceeding 1,000 TPD, including rice straw, Napier grass, cane trash and soya trash.

The bio-CNG generated will be used for commercial and captive use by the customer. This is part of Thermax's broader initiative to introduce solutions around biochemicals and bioenergy.

Another initiative by Thermax is to install 1 GW of hybrid renewable energy solutions by FY 2027, including intra-state and inter-state projects.

Among the 290 MWp (commissioned and under construction) is a wind and solar bundled captive power project comprising 100 MW wind and 90 MWp solar, in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
