Thales group to establish MRO facility for civil aviation

Infrastructure  -  Feb 07,2024  -

French electronics major Thales is significantly expanding its investments as well as sourcing from India, and will be establishing a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Delhi-National Capital Region for its Indian airline customers focused towards avionics.

India is a strategic country for Thales across its key portfolio spanning defence, aerospace as well as digital identity and security solutions.

The MRO facility will enable the strengths of the Indian civil aviation market with the company's expertise in avionics, and also seeks to develop local services capacity to better support its defence customers in India with integrated logistics support, including maintenance, spare parts, and training.

Thales is also accelerating local expansion initiatives which include ramping up the engineering centres in Noida and Bengaluru, even as it inaugurated its second facility in Bengaluru recently.

The local teams at the Bengaluru centre work with its teams in France on flight avionics development programmes, including the new Flight Management System, PureFlyt.

The centre in Noida specialises in digital activities spanning data protection and encryption, cybersecurity, biometrics, and others.

The company's objective is to enable the local industry to play a greater role in global markets, and facilitate the supply chain ecosystem in India.
