Tata Power Renewable Energy to establish 41 MW captive solar plant in Tamil Nadu

Power Generation  -  Sep 29,2023  -

Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a Tata Power Company subsidiary, intends to build a 41-megawatt (MW) captive solar facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The facility would support TP Solar's 4.3-gigatonne (GW) greenfield solar cell and module manufacturing operation in Tirunelveli.

The solar project aims to generate 101 million units of electricity per year while offsetting approximately 72,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The project is expected to be completed within 12 months of the Project Development Agreement's signing.

TPREL has established TP Govardhan Creatives to manage the development, management, and upkeep of this facility.

TPREL subsidiary TP Solar is expected to begin commercial production in fiscal year 2024-25.
