Lotte India, a subsidiary of the Korean conglomerate Lotte Corporation and a major player in the country's confectionery business, has expanded its facility in Nemam, on the outskirts of Chennai.
The business has invested Rs 185 crore in the confectionery factory's 85,562 square-foot expansion to expand manufacturing of its Lotte Choco Pie goods.
The investment will help Lotte India maintain its leadership position in the Indian confectionery business and will create an extra 200 jobs in and around Nemam.
The company has witnessed exceptional growth, with annual sales surging from Rs 168 crore in 2007-2008 to `496 crore in 2021-22, reflecting an impressive year-on-year growth rate of over 21%.
