Tata Power arm TPREL plans Rs. 6,500 crore solar manufacturing expansion
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited is investing up to Rs. 6,500 crore to set up a 10 GW photovoltaic ingot and wafer manufacturing facility, marking its entry into upstream solar manufacturing.
The project will be executed in two phases of 5 GW each and is expected to significantly strengthen backward integration across Tata Power’s solar value chain.
The facility will complement the company’s existing cell and module manufacturing capacity, helping reduce India’s dependence on imports, particularly from China.
The investment aligns with India’s policy push for domestic solar manufacturing under ALMM and PLI schemes, positioning Tata Power as a fully integrated clean energy player.
