The electronics division of the Tata Group, Tata Electronics, intends to expand its current iPhone casing facility in Hosur, with the goal of doubling its current size and capacity, according to sources.
With plans for a massive growth in the next 12 to 18 months, the number of employees at the facility could reach 25,000–28,000.
Focusing on contract manufacturing for premium electronic goods, the move aligns with Tata’s recent acquisition of Wistron’s iPhone assembly plant.
With this growth, Tata Electronics is strategically positioning to meet burgeoning demands for Apple exports from India, echoing the tech giant’s shift away from China and reinforcing India’s prominence in global smartphone manufacturing.
