Tamil Nadu secures Rs 900 crore investments during CM Stalin's US visit

Six companies, including Nokia, PayPal, and Microchip, signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Tamil Nadu government during an investors' meet in San Francisco in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin. The agreements commit a total investment of Rs 900 crore, promising to create over 4,000 jobs in the state.

Chief Minister Stalin, leading a high-level delegation, is on a US tour until September 14 to attract investments as part of his government’s vision to make Tamil Nadu a $1 trillion economy by 2030. The MoUs were signed during a meeting with potential investors in San Francisco.

Nokia, represented by Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Nishant Batra and President of the Fixed Network Business Group Sandy Motley, signed an MoU for a new R&D centre at SIPCOT, Siruseri, Chengalpattu. The facility will focus on innovations in 10G, 25G, 50G, and 100G PON, Fixed Wireless Access, and MDU solutions, with an investment of Rs 450 crore, creating 100 jobs.

Industries Minister TRB Rajaa and senior government officials were present during the signing of the agreements.

Speaking at the investors' conference, Chief Minister Stalin highlighted Tamil Nadu's rapidly growing economy, boasting over 39,000 factories and 2.6 million industrial workers, making it one of India’s leading industrial states.
