Tamil Nadu Govt Earmarks 14,839.62 Acres Across 30 Locations for New SIPCOT Industrial Parks
The Tamil Nadu government has identified an anticipated 14,839.62 acres across 30 locations for new industrial parks, as part of the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) Limited's land bank creation exercise. The largest single parcel, measuring 2,570.27 acres, is located at Mudivaithanendal in Thoothukudi. It is followed by Sillanatham Phase-II (1,293.87 acres) and Umarikottai (1,058.74 acres), also in Thoothukudi, and Nallur in Chengalpattu (1,004.07 acres).
Other sizeable parcels identified include 813.89 acres at Pallathur (Sivaganga), 800.16 acres at Tirupulivanam (Kancheepuram), 696.17 acres at Thuvakudi-Navalpattu (Tiruchy), 599.09 acres at Cheppakkam (Cuddalore), and 544.68 acres at Paiyanur (Chengalpattu).
In addition to the identified land, the state has an anticipated 33,647.82 acres under land acquisition for 44 further upcoming industrial parks. SIPCOT currently manages 54 industrial parks, including eight Special Economic Zones, spread across 27 districts, covering an anticipated 50,059.75 acres in total.
Among the upcoming developments are two electronic manufacturing clusters: a 474-acre cluster at Manallur estimated at ₹587.47 crore, and a 379-acre cluster at Pillaipakkam estimated at ₹440 crore. Both are planned to include electronics testing and certification labs, PCB design and rapid prototyping centres, and battery and charger testing facilities.
SIPCOT is also developing plug-and-play industrial parks under the Public-Private Partnership model at Vallam-Vadagal, Oragadam Medical Devices Park, Panapakkam, Gangaikondan, Shoolagiri, and Manallur, with a combined estimated cost of ₹1,657.46 crore. These parks are intended to offer pre-built infrastructure, including roads, power, water supply, security, and connectivity, to enable faster start of operations for incoming industries.
