Scandinavian Robot Systems India Pvt Ltd (RSP India), a subsidiary of Sweden-based Robot System Products AB (RSP), has launched its first manufacturing facility in Chennai.

This move is aimed at capitalizing on India’s rapidly expanding robotics market by localizing production, enhancing cost competitiveness, and establishing India as a key manufacturing hub for South Asia.

RSP, originally a part of ABB’s robotics department, has operated as an independent entity for over two decades. The company specializes in producing peripheral equipment for industrial robots, with a flagship product, the tool changer, that allows robots to seamlessly switch between tools.

This technology enhances robot flexibility for operations such as drilling, welding, and other industrial tasks. RSP’s expertise primarily lies in six-axis articulated robots, which mimic the movement of a human arm.

“We offer solutions like tool changers, which allow for easy tool switching, swivels for infinite rotation, and tailored hose packages that simplify robot integration. Our plug-and-play systems help reduce costly automation downtime,” said Arvind Vasu, Managing Director of RSP India, which commenced operations in November 2023.
