SJVN has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL) to develop an 1,800 MW pumped storage project (PSP) at Kotpali, Chhattisgarh.
The agreement, signed by Sushil Kumar Sharma, Director (Projects), SJVN, Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Energy Department of Chhattisgarh, and Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director, CSPGCL, aims to strengthen India's energy security and promote a sustainable power sector.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Commerce & Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, and senior officials from both parties.
The project, with an estimated investment of Rs 9,500 crore, is expected to generate around 3,967 MU of electricity and create direct and indirect employment for 5,000 people during its development phase.
The Kotpali PSP, an off-stream closed-loop project in Balrampur District, will help balance power supply by storing excess renewable energy during low demand and releasing it during peak hours
