JNPA signs concession agreement for Rs 285-crore agri-processing facility

Infrastructure  -  Mar 13,2025  -

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has entered into a concession agreement with a consortium of Trident Agrocom Exports and Man Infraconstruction to develop a Rs 285 crore export-Import cum domestic agricultural commodity-based processing and storage facility at the port.

Spanning 27 acres at JNPA, the project is free from Environmental Clearance (EC) and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) restrictions. Designed to handle approximately 1.2 million tonne of agricultural commodities annually, it will facilitate processing, sorting, packing, and laboratory testing to meet food safety and trade standards.

To be developed under PPP model on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) basis, the facility will integrate comprehensive storage solutions, including cold storage, pre-cooling, frozen storage, and dry warehouses, minimizing post-harvest losses.

It will cater to perishable goods such as meat, fresh fruits, and vegetables, alongside non-perishable products like non-basmati rice, maize, marine items, and spices. Advanced technology, including shelf life enhancement and automated processing systems, will optimize quality, reduce post-harvest and transit losses, and boost trade efficiency
