Siemens Limited has been awarded a contract worth approximately ₹263 crore by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the electrification of the Rishikesh - Karnaprayag railway line in Uttarakhand. RVNL is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways.

The scope of work covers supply and installation of overhead rail electrification systems across a 102.5 track-kilometre corridor, including rigid overhead catenary systems (ROCS) and flexible overhead catenary systems (FOCS). These systems will be deployed across tunnels, bridges, open sections, railway yards and associated infrastructure along the route.

The Rishikesh - Karnaprayag rail line is a new broad-gauge railway line spanning approximately 125 km, involving extensive tunnelling through the Himalayas, and forms part of the Char Dham rail connectivity programme aimed at improving access to Uttarakhand's mountainous and pilgrimage regions.

The order extends Siemens' presence in India's railway electrification and mobility sector, where the company has previously supplied electrification, signalling and mobility technologies across multiple passenger and freight rail corridors in the country.
